To understand why Joovv and keto go so well together, it helps to think about how important natural light is to human health. Light is a lot like food. Our bodies respond to it—just like they do to proteins, fats, and carbs, especially during different parts of the day. Joovv has teamed up with Bristlecone Medical to evaluate how red light therapy treatments and a keto diet affect men and women’s hormone health. We have preliminary results showing very positive gains for both men and women. More studies are in progress, but keep in mind that Joovv’s light therapy devices are not currently cleared by FDA for hormone treatments.

For the first study, adult women were broken into two groups. One group received full-body light therapy treatments and followed a keto diet, while the other group received the same light therapy treatments, but ate a standard, non-keto, American diet.

Women See Progesterone and Estradiol Gains: All women in the study—which includes pre- and post-menopausal women—have seen increased levels of progesterone and DHEA. The women on the keto diet saw the most significant uptick in estradiol production, nearly a 20% increase. The table below details of the impressive initial results.

Men See Higher Testosterone Levels: Adult men in both the control (standard diet + light therapy) and experimental (keto + light therapy) groups in the Joovv-Bristlecone study saw increases in their testosterone levels, or T-levels. Men who received red light therapy and ate a standard American diet saw healthy increases in their T-levels, in the range of 25% to 45% increases. But the men who received red light treatments and ate a keto diet saw even larger increases, at least doubling their free testosterone levels. While the red light + keto synergy group was small, the initial results are very promising. The graph below details these results.
